Case 580B weight?

oldschoolPSD

My Trucks are Obsolete
I just picked up an old (1970's) Case 580B. Its got the extenda-hoe, does anybody know how much this thing weighs? I dodged the scales on the way home with it to be safe, I'm only tagged for 24k. I need to know because I plan to buy a gooseneck and I would like to stay legal if possible, I hauled it back on a buddies gooseneck.

the truck weighs approx 6600lbs full of fuel

the case weighs ??

a tandem axle gooseneck weighs ???

thanks for the help fellas

A 580 should weight at least 8000, maybe as high as 12000.

Our Moritz Goose weighs 6000, tandem, no dualls,27 footer.

try the heavyequipmentforums.com

not alot of meat on the older ones so im guesing 8500 on the 580 dual tandem maybe 7000 24' depending on frame extra boxes etc. you'll be legal at least here in texas it is

WOW, old tractor! I'd guess that it weighs about 12,500 lbs. If it does not have EROPS (cage) you better make one. Will this be for side work or just personal use?

Burners on the right track....

To get the weight close, you need to know all the options the tractor has.

CAB / No Cab
4wd / 2wd
Trans Type
Std Stick / Extenda Hoe (answered)
Loader Bucket Size
Tire Sizes
Outrigger Style
Etc...

Every option adds a bit, this old equipment guide I have states that a 580B with a Shuttle Shift Trans and Single Stick wieghs 9,857 lbs.

The Same year and model with Powershift Trans and E-Stick is 12,445 lbs.

So the configuration of the tractor plays large.

wow this is an old one! For all those interested, I weiged the rig and with my truck trailer it's about 22k GCW. That puts the backhoe at about 11k. Thanks for your input.
