ve pump indexing help please.
ok so I turned the fuel screw up and it made a lot of difference how ever it brought my idle up to about 1400. I backed the idle screw out as far as i can still sitting at about 1000-1100. can i just take the lever off the pump and move it one notch ? or will that cause other problem ?

That’s exactly what you need to do. My idle changes when I install different injectors, adjustment is always needed.

I studied pictures of it last night on the net and figured it was ok to do it. Just hated to find out later it caused other problems. I have a new set of injectors coming in today so I'm going to get them in first before i mess with the idle.
Now my next question is what washers to use ? I bought a used head of CL with no injectors in it. I had the head resurfaced and i do knot know how much they took off. so now i don't know what thickness washer to use.

Use the thinnest washers possible, since you're probably going to advance the timing at some point.
As far as re-indexing, you're already playing on the edge of runaway, I'd pull some out of the fuel screw, put your bigger injectors in and see where you stand.
Sometimes re-indexing will not do any good, it'll either make it run away, or not idle, even with the screw bottomed out.
A stiffer governor spring will add more uncertainty to the mix.
A dead stock pump with a governor spring and big(ger) injectors would be my starting point, then work from there.
Mark.

If you don’t have any idea on the amount of material removed from the head, then you do not have a starting point to work backwards from. What is the use of this engine? Daily driven, weekend toy? Standard thickness washers will probably work, but I’m not entirely sure.
We need more info about your engine setup before advising you in a specific direction. What year is your engine? Stock pistons? Fill out your signature.

it is a 93 intercooler. all stock engine. only mods are a denny fuel pin and a 3200 governor spring. Plus normal tweaks on the pump like fuel screw, M&H dynamic spacer, star wheel down 2 turns. I also did advance the pump gear one tooth from E to C . that was just so i didn't have to have the pump framed to the head. Its just a daily driver but id like to get as much out of it as i can.

I turned down the under side of my AFC cover to make it flush. Just removing the embossments in hopes to gain more travel. Not sure if there is any measurable gain in doing so.
An AFC delete will net another 30-40hp once you have more supporting modifications. Turbo, injectors, fuel pump, etc. make sure you take up the slack in your throttle linkage for full travel.

Any reason one would do an AFC delete rather than tune the AFC setup?
