new to IDI

Well here goes, got into the diesel world a few days ago by buying a 77 f250 highboy with a 1991 7.3 idi turbo. I love the damn truck and wanted to get a few tips and pointers from guys who have more experience than myself. The pickup does have aftermarket gauges since i belive the stock oil pressure Gauge is a dummy. Well today the truck shot down to 0 psi and I could hear a slight ticking. Since I'm new to diesel, I'm wondering what are my avenues to fix this? Thanks for any and all help.

Buy a real gauge first and formost. Change the oil. Drain it through a coffee filter as it drains. Look for any excessive metal. Possible has a bad oil pump or worse a bearing problem.

Not to discourage you from this forum defiantly hang around but there is a fair amount of info on these old motors on ford-trucks.com. Not as many guys that fool with them here.
