Dissapointed

Went to the local track this weekend and was dissapointed to say the least. 1/8 mile track. I ran an 8.69. 60 ft was 2.01 left on 8 pounds of boost trap speed was 81mph. Truck has ppe dual fueler.170% over ii injectors hp tuning by ctt. Fass 150, tator built 68/68 and all other supporting mods. Thought i would atleast break into the 7s. Truck seems to fall on its face off the line and finally starts pulling half track. I took off in 2nd after it hit 2nd flipped lockup switch then bumped it to drive with tow haul on then would flip to haul off. Truck also has 4.10 gears. Is there a better way of taking off with an auto. This thing smokes like a train with this tuning. Thinking about getting firepunk tunes as i am not really convinced on ctt at this point. I know 60ft should be better. Have a stage 2 firepunk trans. How much boost can i leave the line with.

How are you guys launching these autos. Are u taking off in 2 with tow/haul on then hitting lockup bumping into drive then turning tow/haul off. What kind of boost should i leave with off the line roughly.

You can try to launch different, but your trap speed is low for the power it SHOULD be making. Maybe try rolling into the throttle slower and keeping smoke down while staging

Check for boost leaks?

What does the truck weigh? what tires? Did you try the tune of mine you found?

Either way, with those parts it should run way faster. Really sounds like the tune is way off. I would start with the tune, then get rid of that HE351 and buy an s400 framed charger. something in the 472-476 range depending on how well you need it to spool.

If you are around 7000lbs, with a 476 that truck should be capable of 6.70s.

Not sure of weight. And i am sure the tunes are not right. Been waiting on revisions for 3 weeks now. Everytime i call there is an excuse of why i havent got them. Was told 13 days ago that i should get them in 7 to 10 days still havent got them called and asked them why and was told they have been having issues it would be 4 or 5 more days. So here i am still waiting on my tunes. But enough about that. How much boost should i be launching on and whats the best way to run this auto cause im used to doing the shifting for my truck

Also you can tell its to much fuel by the way it bogs off the line then about half track turbo comes on and she is riding. Speedshift this turbo has done 997. I like the power you can get with it and i think once tune is dialed in it is gonna light pretty quick which i like and i do tow now and then. For now i would like to keep it. atleast until i get tuning figured out. Cant really blame the turbo when tuning isnt right. I road in landons truck and he has the 67 and i liked how it pulled and spooled thats why i went with the tatorbuilt. Maybe later when its not so much of a daily truck i will get a 476 or something of the sort.

So have any of these 900+horsepower claims been backed up on the track?

You need to leave with as much boost as the track will hold. I would start with about 20lbs and if it holds, go to 25 but most street setups use 20-25lbs on the launch. Remember, a tenth in the 60ft is good for about two tenths in the 1/4 mile.

I would run in Drive with towhaul on, lock the converter as soon as it goes into second, and turn towhaul off around 3500-3800rpm depending on how the tune is setup.

How much boost are you making with it at wot? Do you have the wastegate intact?

I would leave at closer to 15 psi and increase until you spin your tires.

Larson did 11.3 or something in the quarter mile with 250% overs and taterbuilts he351 67/67.

I could leave with 15 psi on compounds but when I upped the fuel I had to bump it to 20 psi to keep it from bogging. What's your max boost? I hate to say tuning is the issue, but it sounds like a max effort tune for stock injectors....not going to work right with the 170 percenters. At 81mph in the 1/8 you're still down on power compared to what it should be. What does the truck weigh?
