Also If your talking about the leaf mounts on the axle they are angled a good bit different from the frame do to the design of the leaf brackets and factory shackle. I’m new to al this stuff trying to figure out as I go myself.

Awesome progress! that disc brake conversion was a really good choice. I hate drum brakes...

The truck is low. The trans crossmember was fun being that I don’t have a lift and rarely have help. Right now at ride height there’s about 4in clearance to the ground right now with the factory crossmember. I will make a tubular soon but for now it will work

Budget 6.70 drag truck build!!

Last night I piddled with the truck somemore. Ended up deciding to cut a chunk out of the tunnel for easier access to everything. So I was able to get my shift linkage hooked up and set right last night. I was also able to get started on wiring my 8 pin connector being I don’t have a wiring harness anymore. I’m just going to run constant power to the 12v inlet and just have grounds on switches for lockup and od. From my understanding that’s the only 3 of the 8 I need.

Im right there with ya... My truck's ground clearance (off of the transmission crossmember) is only 4 1/2 inches. I put the truck on jack stands just to install my downpipe lol. What are you going to do to cover the transmission? Make a bolt type cover?

Who makes the kit? For that price I'd yank the drums off mine.

I’m just gonna put some rubber around the seam and put the piece I cut out back in place and have bolt tabs on the corners

Do you plan on running a trans brake? Seems like it would be hard to get a single piston disc to hold much boost on the line for a launch.

No I don’t. I don’t plan on leaving more then 10-15psi. But we will see. Worst come to worse I’ll go with a differnet set of calipers.

I was worried myself but the piston is right around 2 3/8th diameter if I had to guess. We will see this weekend what it will hold.

Took some more pictures last night. Got my new coils in and they handle the weight of the truck much better already. Then I polished up on some of the intercooler piping as it was caked in oil and grease.

It’s already been started. But hoping for a test drive this weekend! Time will tell tho. I’ll try to get some videos if it happens.

Messed with the truck somemore tonight. I had to grind the calipers alittle to clear the wheels with the slicks. After that I started wiring up the overdrive and lockup switches. Tomorrow is looking like a good possibilty the first time the trucj will move under its own power! Click the image to open in full size.
