12 second track truck

I have 2017 ram 3500 6.7 aisin 4x4 4.10 standard cab. It has 100,000 hard towing miles. (Grossed at 31,000lbs to the floor steep uphill grades) I used it as my off road container delivery truck and now it just sits. I’m looking to turn it in to a dedicated track truck. It will never see the street again. I want to run low to mid 12s at sea level.

My question is If I built a 650-700hp motor could I just run the aisin trans. I know I should swap to a 68 or 48 but could that kind of power over come the commercial characteristics of the aisin and get me in the 12s

Thanks

Ya! My dad has been delivering containers with 4x4 dodge rams since 2001 and was using tractor trailer long before that. If anyone needs a container in Northern California Oregon or Nevada and their address is 100 miles from any main rd or hwy all the container sellers call him for delivery.

I don't think the converters will hold much. Truck looks in decent shape, sure you don't want to start with something else?

Talk to Randy's transmission about the asisin. He has one in his personal truck and beats to poop out of if it. His trans held 600-700 for quite awhile stock, now its built and he is throwing a bunch more power at it. I just don't know how "fast" they are. Slow shifting for sure.

If you want to build a dedicated drag truck, just start with a 48re. Once you run 12s you will want an 11, then a 10, then a 9, then..... Might as well buy the trans once, you will be money and time ahead.

the aisin has great potential no doubt, but it hasn't been able to be tuned; shift strategy, line pressure, etc, all remain within factory parameters.

id look ahead and try to source a 47/48 and be done with it. there are a few good shops up by you, Siskiyou Diesel is one id recommend.

This. It seems the Aisin AS69RC can take a bunch of power in stock form, Randy Reyes beat on his with ~650hp for ~six months before it threw in the towel iirc, but will shift funky doing it (flare shifting, etc.).

X2. Randy is the guy to talk to if you want a built Aisin. His built Aisin truck is around ~800-1,000hp now and handles the power and shifts properly with just his hard parts. Beyond him and RevMax I don't even know of anyone else building Aisins, at least people willing to talk about it. Bring up the AS69RC to most people/shops and they scatter like cockroaches...

Like others have said, starting with an Aisin truck might be a futile endeavor. Best of luck if you stick with the Aisin though, I'd love to see more people experiment with these things.

I mentioned Ultimate Trans if he goes to a 48RE. I took an Ultimate Trans 48RE to Siskiyou Diesel to be freshened up and Mat said he'd never seen anything like it before, in a good way of course.
