It is a rule adopted from tractor classes. The idea is that if the head were to be blown off the block, it would be projected out the front of the vehicle instead of at the driver.

I agree with Weston that they could at least double check what they are publishing.

I know what it means. It's just not everyone has a straight six. There are v8's in the class.

My bad, wasn't thinking that through. Still confused how I am going to mount my weight box 60" in front of my rear axle this year!

The proper term would be a "mid mount" weight box I think. Also I see we don't need a firewall?

Also wondering how I put a sfi bell housing and an SFI blowproof bell housing on the truck. One on top of another. I guess I can't be too safe.

Wasn't expecting to need 1/8" protrusion for the chargers

you need the protrusion or you end up with chargers like what full pull runs.

Yeah, NTPA only requires the cable for inline engine's.

No, you need a groove to make more power.

So if you pull the 3" bore lets say 1/4 inch away from the wheel it would let more air to the wheel and make more power correct?

Yeah, if you do it right. Run an 80mm wheel set back far enough up the curve.

As Weston says, a groove would be better.

But protrusion is the right thing to do, in concept, to keep the tomfoolery minimized.

so i havent been keeping up on rules much for the last few months but lets take my truck for example... an "old" 3.0 truck, 158" wheelbase. its got a dana 60 upfront, sqhd rear and profab reverser dropbox setup. the cab floor is still in it, but the bed is gutted. its got a/w, stock heads, hyd steering all the usual stuff.

now if i wanted to pull in the "new" 3.0 smooth bore class that is ODL. besides a turbo obviously what all would i need to change? are they gonna let me run my gutted box if i hang some weight over the rear end like we used to have to do for some hooks? or am i gonna have to buy a new box?

i would still rather buy a truck box and a hx60 turbo than go spend 20k on a big frame 3.6, f106 front and bar tires...(i know u can run dot in 3.6 this year but looking ahead doesnt seem that it will be an option)

and who's gonna have a 3.0 smoothbore class next year around the northern illinois/southern wisconsin area?

I'd say go find a junk beat up bed and cut the floor out and tack it in place on your current truck.

I wonder how many 3.0 trucks we'll see stepping down to Limited Pro Stock Diesel Trucks like this? Seems like a very viable solution. I also wonder how many if any Super Stock Diesel Trucks will throw a smaller turbo on the truck and step down to pull in the Pro Stock Diesel Truck class???

This year will be interesting for sure!!!
