Torque converter stator and pump questions
The local converter builder (AK) is willing cut me a deal on a triple disk. I have one of his super singles and he's going to let me exchange it with credit towards a triple from him. He typically builds them for lower than stock stall speed. I want it around 2100-2200 rpm - I'm going with 369 this summer and have read this is a good stall speed. He said he would put a v10 stator and pump or mix and match whatever and then change it if I don't like it for free- I just have to pull it out of the truck etc.
Should I just go stock pump and stator ? If I was buying brand new again I'd order a dpc triple but this guy is in state and making me a deal.
If anyone is willing to share info on this it would be great.

I don't see what the v10 parts would gain

I thinking stock stall speed or maybe a little looser. I think v10 parts make it stall higher than I'm looking for.

V10 pump and stator will put it at 2400-2600 rpm. If you don't mind rpm while normal driving, you could get by with it.

What about a stock pump and v10 stator or the opposite ? Would that drop it down to 2100 ?

I believe 2200-2300ish. Stock diesel everything would get you 2100rpm. When someone wants a 2100 stall we sell them a "stock stall".

What would you recommend for a street/strip truck , 3.54 gears, and a 369sxe ? Cruising rpm is 1900 at 55. Stock size tires

I have a v10 stall and its pretty loose don't do it if you don't have to. I need it to spool on the line with 30* timing when its hot out lol.
What kinda timing are you going to be running? my cylinder head isn't very responsive off the bottom which doesn't help but even with a s363 manifold turbo it was a pig once I bumped the timing way up.

I'm going to run 22-26* timing. Truck is at 19* right now but I have been daily driving it in the winter. After I get the turbo and Tc 100% I'll try 19* for awhile and then raise it. I have stock Pistons and 4k springs and I'll be cruising to work in the truck as much as I can. I'll probably run the timing right under the limit for spraying out of the bowl.
I'm sure my headgasket will be next on list for things to fail, so I'll Make sure the head get resurfaced, check the block, do a budget port job on the head, cummins head gasket.

Ok. I got a great deal on a nearly new II silver 64/74/14. The converter guy starts working on my new Tc tomorrow. From reading other threads I was thinking of 1800ish - stock stall speed.
Sound good ?
