S&T waterjet and steel

COMP461

Comp Diesel Sponsor
I have been racing with Stan and Matt Thomas owners of S&T waterjet and steel for the past 25 years. Matt now drives a Texas outlaw ProMod , but I remember the little kid helping around our comp Program. Stan has been a huge part of every one of my race efforts.
Here are some of the many parts they make on the side with their two waterjet's when they are not doing parts for big industry. Stan and Matt have ever surface on both the Cummins and the Duramax mapped out, and can make any part out of any material

if you have ever wondered where the cummins and Dmax torque plates are coming from , here is one in 1 1/2 inch steel, also in 3 inch aluminum

Looks good, we use the same style water jet (a little larger) to cut a lot of our products, did a run of girdles last week.

What I have found, is that Stan and Matt are both Racers and understand what you are describing. S&T has the ability to fast prototype, and make that one off part. The Duramax Valve covers they made needed additional clearance for custom rockers. Matt drew up the spacers and had then in my hand in 30 mins. They have torque plates, girdles, pan rails, valve cover rails, and side cover plates.
The big plate you see on the cutting bed is for a nuclear reactor, as is a lot of S&T’s business. They fit in the performance parts as a service to the racing world , of which they are a part of.

I don't get on CompD very often, but I will try to check in if you have any more questions.

I'm working on a quote for you guys on the Cummins Torque plate...be looking for a PM soon (with a variety of options on materials).

As for the materials question, the Aluminum torque plate is actually cheaper than the steel plate. The Aluminum cuts faster, and the cutting is the majority of the cost.

Personally I have seen no significant difference in cylinder finish with either material. I suppose it's just a matter of personal preference and budget.

I might could even work out a rental program (lol, I used the word "program") if I had enough interest in people wanting to do something like this.

Ok, so apparently it's required that I have 10 posts before I can send PM's. I guess I have to do a little creative posting until I get there.

Attached are a few pics of thing I have done in the past.

Steel signs, Granite memorials, and a specialized part for my hot rod.

This post will make 10. Attached are a few Diesel related pics. While we don't cut heads like this anymore, it was interesting!

Talked to Mat today, really nice guy. Sounds like they're definitely on the ball as far as getting things shipped in a timely fashion, which is refreshing. They also don't seem to be upping the price of things just because the word diesel is attached. Much more reasonable than I anticipated. Looking forward to seeing their work first hand.
