DD and input shaft

I am wanting to build a DD,puller, and drag race it every once an a while,I have done a few mods, but I am saving for a 3580 DD clutch and was woundering how much power the stock input shaft will hold and if I can put the dd in without the bigger input shaft in?If it will hold.

Building the clutch with the dampened centers will help for the input BUT any real power with drag racing and sled pulling is going to eventually snap the shaft. I would advise to get the shaft upgrade.
