Thought I'd bring some 6.4 to your lives...
Since I don't post on here much, and the Ford guys are a little outnumbered, I thought I'd introduce myself and update some of my friends!
Funny story - for those that know me, I originally bought this truck back in 2009 because I knew I could throw a tune on it, make 500, and just drive the thing... I said I'd be happy with 500... El oh el.
Then I told myself I would never have dual pumps.... then once I had dual pumps I said I'd never run a 50% nozzle - because it was too big.
In my time working at Elite, the truck turned into a little bit of a test bed for some new turbos, nozzle tests, etc., and the hunger started growing from there. After riding in Mike Dillehay's green truck a couple times, I was 100% helpless lol.
I started off with stock fuel, and ran several atmospheres - testing them all in different environments and really started to love learning new things, and, at the time - pushing the 6.4 aftermarket and clean power forward. The coolest thing was how stock the stupid thing was and made such good power - still had EGR on it lol.
This was one of my favorite from turbo testing.
Then we tested nozzles, and the stock hpfp couldn't keep up, so I decided to pull the cab for the first time. I added dual pumps, an airdog, and studded it 1 at a time. I did an EGR delete too lol.
The truck was running great - I made a bunch of 12 second passes up here at Bandimere (6,000') still on the stock trans. It was making low 700's on the calculator, and I still wasn't satisfied. I decided that I was going to put in an app for DPC '14, so in anticipation for that, I added a built trans and some nitrous along with a wastegate. I didn't make it in, but it made some 900+ pulls on a couple dyno's out here and the calculator showed 940 at the track. Pretty happy with it for some bolt ons.
After the NHRDA event here last year, I was doing a little spirited driving home (emptying the bottle) and ended up melting a piston. I drove it to the shop, and we pulled the motor out of it and started building it. Aside from the heads, an up pipe, and that one piston, it looked flawless lol.
The motor went back together with Carillo's, cut and coated pistons, some new heads, an Elite cam and valve train, some bigger nozzles, and some bigger turbos. The nozzles were 75% and turbos are an Elite setup - 66/88 Max Power X turbos.
I put it back together and it ran pretty well! I thought it needed a little more though, so I stepped up the nozzles to some custom 90% ones. First pass out this year with the new setup went 11.57 @ 120 on fuel with no tuning tweaks so far... Keep in mind this truck is heavy, and has some 35" mud tires lol.
Fast forward to April - I put in an app for DPC again this year, and in anticipation for that, we changed up a couple of things - basically just changed manifolds and up pipes, added a second wastegate for spray, and cleaned some stuff up.
Mock Up
So, I wasn't voted in, but I had the opportunity to go to DPC this year as an alternate for one of the Duramax guys who ran into some issues here the night before DPC. I had a fukkin blast! Super excited to be part of Team Ford this year and I was ecstatic that the truck did as well as it did. Felt really good to turn some heads after all of the blood sweat and tears that have gone into this thing.
Made 1202/2133 uncorrected (1,499/2735 corrected) on the dyno
Spun like hell and still came out 3rd in the trailer tow
Unfortunately, a valve in the pump in the trans hung open in semi finals racing Lavon, and it took me out of the competition. We only had an hour before sled pulls and knew we wouldn't have had enough time to swap transmissions. Regardless, had a great time, and got to compete with some great guys!
Oh and a sidenote - we weighed the truck at the sled pulls at DPC, and it came in at 8,520#... calculator shows it to be around 1000 fuel only at 6,000', and one pass on a little spray (.99 jet I flipped on progressive at 900' or so racing Jaran) it trapped 124.46 - 1,115hp. I still tow with it and DD the truck here at altitude.

good to see you on the Cummings forum!
everybody needs more 6.4 in their lives
I still haven't broken the seal on mine. Looks like I might be driving it to Colorado this summer, and it's still in "ain't broke" mode, so I'm still thinking "don't fix"

You need more stickers is all. I think I can find some "kids" to help with applying them.
