The issue with POR15 is the surface prep has to be PERFECT to get it to stay on. I have pieces painted with that stuff that has chipped, and it has not peeled off.

I do not have good luck with powder coat on the other hand...that stuff just flakes off (pieces were bought already powdercoated...I did not do it myself).

I used the POR-15.....really happy with how it applied and turned out. Gave it a quick coat of a cheap can of Semi gloss black for UV protection. So far as tough as nails and looks great even though its still early.

ive done a bunch of work on steel boats and i do the same on truck frames and trailers. the easiest way ive found is to wire weel it, hit it with a DA if you really feel the need. then use a good rust converter, not the stuff from wallmart. caorroseal is very good but not cheap. then just a 2 part epoy w/o any thinner. we use imron on the boats and frames/ trailers. imron 450H is what most bridges are primed with. this stuff is amazing. my trailer i top coated with i belive its 270?? a 2 part polyester paint.

I am using hammered rustoleum on my frame. Here's a pic.

I am wire wheeling the frame and spraying it.

I used Por 15 also. I sprayed over it with 3M undercoating. It has kind of a rubberish finish. I'm pleased with the results.
