Will this work?

So, I removed the bed on my 4th gen to change the sending unit, clean up some surface rust, and other little stuff.
Once it was off, I saw that the rubber piece spanning the bottom front of the bed that keeps water out of the cab vents has rubbed a ~4'x.75" spot on the cab down to bare metal.

I don't want to remove that piece, and obviously don't want bare metal. What I've come up with is a spray can of touch up paint (Dodge PDA paint code) and 3m PPF to put over it once dry.

Since the truck is silver-ish, I decided that would be a good place to decide if the touch up paint is good enough for other spots on the truck that are chipped, or if I'll have to get a pro to blend it.

Anyways, does the peanut gallery think this is an OK solution, or am I just wasting my time?

I'd do it if it was my truck.

better buff it really good and make sure it would be seamless since that is the tricky part.

If trying to decide if that paint code is right for the chips keep in mind that that part of the truck is not faded like the rest of the body because it does not see sunlight.
