Finally dyno’d my 12 valve!

Truck is a 97 5 speed, mods are SXE362 with the .70 housing, 4” downpipe to 5” stacks, 025 dv’s, 5x.012 injectors, studs, o-ringed block, 4k’s, aneroid worked, 26• timing, 60lb valve springs, power driven retainers, bhaf, AFC live, and electric fans.

Truck made 334/691 on the first pull loading at 2000 rpm with the afc live turned down, 554/1100 on the second pull loading at 1750 with the party switch on making 50 psi of boost and never topping 1200 on the pyro, third pull was 549/1040 loading at 1500. Peak torque was in the 2500 range and hp in the 2900 range with the lowest being the first pull at 2650 I’m assuming running out of fuel.

Drives like a dream apart from a small amount of hazing, mileage is mid 17s average. 4.11s and 35s, tows really well and never gets hot unless I flip the party switch get stupid. Thinking of backing the timing down to 22ish to get the peaks down a little bit and maybe make more torque.

That's a strong number for the mods. Looks like you got the tuning right.

Just making it harder and harder for me to choose between the 362 or a super b special.

I don't know anything about the super B special but this SXE is a blast to drive! It lights easy and pulls great till 3000 where it noses over quick, people worry about towing with the .70 housing but I tow with this setup without changing anything and my EGT's stay well within my comfort zone.

I just put a 362sxe on my 12v tow rig with a .83 t4 housing/t4 ats mani and love it. Egt's are where i like them(around 1150 towing). I was surprised with how good it spools. btw i changed from a cheetah 63 with t3 steed for this and spooling is not much different.... Good numbers for a 62 btw!

Where does that T4 start making good chooch? This was the first decent turbo I've ever bought for a hopped up diesel and coming from an HX40 bought off amazon it's night and day difference! Mine spools faster than the 16CM HX40 I took off and pulls harder the whole way.

Those are strong numbers. As a comparison, back in 2001 I used an HX35/40 hybrid, 5x12 marines, 19 degrees of timing, 4.10 gears and made 450 hp.

The turbo tech has advanced a bunch! I suspect the timing is helping a little too.

Anyone recall the kwik kurt hybrids? Fun to drive but I exploded 4 of them!.

I've got one hanging off the side of mine. Zach at North American turbo built it. I think we are talking the same turbo. Mine a 62mm billet wheel on the front and stock on the back.

I appreciate the positive words! The guy running the dyno asked if I wanted to change anything and run again or ghetto fog it and I turned him down, I really didn't want to fog it and hurt the turbo since I couldn't keep boost controlled as it was. Gate opens at 42 ish and I'm pegging the 60PSI gauge on the street, saw 50PSI on the dyno.

Are you happy with the AFC Live? Do you have a good control over the smoke for street driving and going full fuel? I would really like to be able to have that kind of control but keep getting mixed reviews on how effective the AFC live really is.

I love AFC live, it is a wonderful tuning tool. It only helps control your boost fueling, watch my video and you’ll see the first video was almost perfectly clean? That was with the afc live tuned down by quite a bit, flipped the party switch and all the fuel came in. You still HAVE to tune your aneroid, most of the people I’ve seen complain want it to do more than it’s capable of.

That makes sense. I'm not interested in "rolling coal" on the streets, but from time to time I want to party as well. Thanks!

Those are really solid numbers and the exhaust was pretty dang clean. How heavy do you tow?

Nothing terribly heavy right now, pickups on car trailers so maybe 9K heaviest. Getting a 5th wheel next week then on the hunt for a bigger trailer!
