Fass Pump, should it cycle when key is turned on

The Fass pump on the 2001 Dodge I acquired does not cycle every time I turn the key to the on position. Should it? I have always had Air Dog pumps and they would cycle the motor for just a second before starting the truck? This doesn't do it every time. Does it only do it if it has lost pressure? Should I be looking for another pump/filter setup?

It should only cycle if the pressure is low.

Check to make sure you are getting voltage signal from the ECM. The pump should kick on for a couple seconds and the power should shut off.

How does a 2001 know if there is pressure or not? No pressure sensor that I know of.

I believe the pump is just bumped until you actually attempt to start it.

I have 2 01's with fass pumps. Sometimes the fass will cycle for a second, sometimes not. I don't care cause they both run and have been for the past 8yrs.

They run for just a few seconds until you either start it or bump the starter in which it should stay running for thirty seconds.

Thats what I was thinking, but sometimes it would not cycle when you have the key on and your waiting for the wait to start light to go off. I dont drive it very much so I'll have to do some more checking next time i get it out.
