I'm not sure that I've heard of this being done before, but the engine was dirt cheap, as was the VE parts, and it's in a 89 Ford.

So far it seems way more driver friendly than a P, but oviously the HP potential will not be there. We're hoping it will make a nice driver.

Just curious how you got the VP lines to fit the VE?

Cut the 14mm ends off and put 12mm on. Then tweaked/streched them to get them to reach the VE.
I'm pretty sure I've stumbled on adaptors that were 12mm female and 14mm male about 1 inch long, but couldn't find them when I needed them.

Cool. The VE is a great little daily driver pump within it's HP range.

Not bad. Does it perform better with if being a 24 valve head

Potentially, haven't driven it enough to know for sure yet. We'll probably adjust fuel to where it still burns pretty clean and call it good. It might end up on a dyno someday just for curosity's sake.

Cool. Be a good driver, I'd imagine. Put the 14mm H/R on it and 500hp worth of nitrous?

Nice!! Where in Northeast Ohio? A friend of mine took classes at Ohio State ATI and had a person in the class doing a similar swap....

I thought of doing this before, but i never got around to it. I'm glad to see you do it. I was thinking of doing this on a White tractor. Very cool. This makes me want to buy a tractor again.

I had it mocked up a couple years back but I never did finish connecting the lines to make it work. I am glad someone finally did it. I think that this is a better answer for a daily driver than a ppump. Ve's start awesome and do good on fuel.
Injector pop pressure for a ve is quite a bit lower than the vp isn't it?

Probably the same guy. Buddy of mine that owns this took autocad there this summer.

Yup, 3500 if I remember right. We sleeved the bodies and changed the springs. Some think 12V springs are necessary, some think it's a waste of time. We figured the VE would be more sensitive to the 24V's higher spring rates than a P would be.

It actually starts a little harder than I think it should. I think I set the timing at 1.5mm, I might try backing it off a little bit.

That's a neat swap. You found an adapter that will hook the lines up? It sure would make a cheaper swap.

You want a tractor because you need a tractor. :poke: And I might even know of a guy in the tractor buisness. :D
I almost 14mm VE'd my 1655. I may have to if I get too much complaining about it this year.

What seams to be the max hp for a stock VE? What about 14mm?

12mm seems in the 300-350 hp range, 14mm seems to be around 500-550 hp. fuel only. Not speaking from experience on this.

Diesel Care Inc

The picture looks right, the description in large bold text seems right, the description in small text seems wrong to me.

If you could find the right adapter for the lines the swap would be pretty cheap and simple.

I've had a swap like this in the works for approx a year now and had new dv holders made. I just picked them up from the machine shop yesterday. I'm thinking a 14mm h&r with some big nozzles would be interesting but I haven't made up my mind on size yet.

Does it use the normal 24v front cover too?

No, VE gear housing and cover.

Hmmmmmm...... Does anyone know how similar the covers are between a VP44 and a Bosch A pump? I for some reason think mounting was similar.

Cummins had a deal where they field installed VE's in place of A's. Adaptor for pump mounting, and used the A gear. Would be handy to not have to change the gear housing and not have to deal with the cam sensors on Dodge applications.
