CNC Mill for sale.

Have decided to replace my favorite machine now that the tool changer is acting up. Excel 810, box ways 6k rpm Fanuc Om control. Rigid tap(will tap 1"-14 in mild steel with no issues, or thread mill as big as you want(helical interpolation). I bought it new 22 years ago and it has been the most reliable machine I have ever owned. Even changing tools manually it can make alot of money for a small shop. Thinking around $8500 or so.

Also have Bobcad cam software that should allow you to program and store. It's an older version(V22 with v24 upgrade disc). Bought it quite a while back but never used it.

The front spindle cover is just off so I can replace the spring steel harness guide on top of the machine. Stuff that looks like rust is actually just dried coolant, and comes off with soap and water. Machine is around 80" wide, 100" deep and 104" high. Weight is around 12K. 220V 3ph 60 amp breaker min. Box was on all 3 axis with 12hp "P torque " spindle motor. Rigid tap, helical interp, yada yada. Can take heavy cuts in steel, but for the last 20 years I've had it running with an indexer making small aluminum and stainless parts. Probably why it has been so trouble free.As far as cutting goes, comparing this to a Bridgeport knee mill is like comparing a Dodge Cummins to a VW rabbit diesel pickup. The VW burns less fuel, but when work is to be done......

Sad thing is people will waste twice as much on an obsolete Haas with linear ways just because of appearance. This thing will do twice the work people. Don't let the old out dated appearance of it scare you.

I take it the 4th axis is not included, Ron?

I'm probably going to get a new indexer when I get the new machine, so like a Clint Eastwood movie it could be included for a few dollars more.

They are offering me $6K trade in and I can't keep it on the floor with the new machine so I'll take $6000 for it. A small shop could make a lot of money with this thing.

Id hate to see what rigging and transport would cost from Mars.

Is the tool changer completely toast or just need some TLC?

It drops tools once in a while(annoying as hell). I've replaced the relays and contacts that are connected to it,(helped a bit for a day or 2), but it seems to be just slightly out of position from time to time and the arm will retract before the tool is clamped all the way.
Rigging on the new machine from Uranus(southern CA) to Mars(Northern CA) is around 3500. In my experience, shipping coast to coast costs only slightly more depending on Tornado's, Hurricanes, and flooding.

I'm picking it up tomorrow. I was talking to the Kaeser service guy today and he told me the CP compressor is actually an Atlas Copco so that was good to hear. I'll post pictures when I get it home. Not sure if everything will fit in the bed of the truck.

They backed off on the $6K number and said it wouldn't give them enough profit margin if they sold it for $8500. Rigging kills it. Looks like getting it hauled off for free is about the best I'll do right now.

Ended up giving this to a friend of mine. He drills a lot of holes at his fabrication shop and this will drill way better than a manual mill or drill press.

Never thought it would be so hard to get rid of. I had to put on my salesman's cap to talk someone into taking it for free. The machining trade has turned into a flop nowadays. If you aren't making your own product, it's not worth getting into. The 16 year old kid fixing the computer has a higher shop rate than the machine shop with 500k worth of machines.

It would have been for my own personal use, making parts for all my different projects I have. I use mine at work now, but having on at home is the end game plan.

You are 100% right about making parts for others, don't ever plan to get into that AGAIN. I need it yesterday and you better be working for 15 dollars an hr
