First time pulling

This thread is not working in the newbie section.
So what do I need to know or do ? ( Which gear do I keep it in , when do I engage converter , how should I launch ?)

It will be in the street legal class but I have a hood stack so it has to be an exhibition pull.

4x4 03 automatic , Cummins with just over 1k hp, single cab , lock up converter , 4:10 gears , 33" tires. Single ss475 turbo , 350% injectors .

When we were auto, we held it back to build 20psi, locked converter as soon as possible(10-15ft), gear shift in 2, bump to drive if truck would take it. Depended on track for us. We were p24v, auto, 4.10s, 2.5map turbo, 35" bfg

I do the same thing in my p24v with 4.88’s and 35’s. I start in 2nd gear and lock up right away. Then shift to 3rd about 75-100’.

Put bump stops in and make sure your suspension is all up to snuff in terms of wear. Third gens love to hop.... other than that keep the RPMS up with that charger! Have Fun! It is more fun than it looks.

Didn't do to bad for the first pull , thanks for the help again. At the end of the pull the truck stopped when I let off the accelerator obviously due to the convertor being locked. Should I have unlocked before letting off accelerator or should I just let it stall in the future ? Which is best for the drivetrain ?

Unlocking converter before it stalls the engine would be wise.

That was my gut feeling . I need to reposition switch in a better place.
