Well I'm not sure but think the inevitable is starting to occur! But before discussing that let me discuss a problem that's always plagued the transmission. When it gets colder out I've noticed that when selecting reverse/drive it sometimes takes up to 20 seconds before it will engage in either one. Revving the motor usually makes it engage quicker. Now onto the newer problem. Once again when the tranny is colder, the truck when in 1st gear and the motor reaches about 1700rpm the tranny begins to sease function and will grab/let go grab/let go until banging into second. It does the same thing going from 2nd to 3rd. Have I warn out the clutch material there?

I'm going to have the fluid completely flushed/changed and a new filter installed next week to get as much mileage out of it before I put a goerend unit in it. Hoping for it to last atleast until 1st quarter 09. Any recommendations on fluids?

Thoughts?

i believe she's **** the bed captain

sounds a torque converter issue. when i finally parked my truck to save money for my tranny, i would come to stop and then hit the gas and it would just rev up and eventually catch and be fine, until i stopped again, so i know you don't have much time left, i don't think you'll make it to the 1st quarter of 09.

So what you're saying is a 15 psi 4x4 launch 150 miles from home is a bad idea??? lol:p

Ha ha, when my converter locks in OD and I hit it as soon as the turbo spools it just goes right to 3400 lol.

Ok, i'll prepare my amex for the insuing financial fire:(

Youve tempted fate long enough LOL Youll be needing a transmission soon. Honestly I wouldnt waste the money and time on new fluid. Just go ahead and do it! You know youre going to do it sometime in the near future, so might as well go ahead and do it so you can enjoy it. Heres what I recommend...
Goerend Transmission
Laminated Flexplate
Billet Input
Billet Output
Triple Disc Converter (I would recommend the 900/400 converter. Not too tight, not too loose. Its a step below the 15blade converter I had in mine)

Go ahead and get a good tranny in that thing and prepare to be amazed:rockwoot: It will be like a totally different truck. Have you ever ridden in a Cummins with a good aftermarket tranny?

Yeah actually I have ridden in one, I was amazed although I expected the results to a degree. It was dzlfarmboy's buddy Will, he had a 24 valve with a 62/71 charger, some nozzles, an aftermarket vp44, mits. lift pump, and a few other goodies. Think he made around mid 500s at the tire. His truck had 3.54 gears and was about 1000lbs heavier then mine and it was night and day. I'm really a fan of being able to spin 4 tires on a 5mph roll and when the converter locks up with that kind of torque. Being I have a larger charger, have 4.10 gears, and am 1000lbs lighter I have a feeling i'm in for quite a shock. That and I'm still finding more and more in this truck, noticed that i have a throttle rod issue that i've been toying with lately and am seeing almost 50psi now even with the hurt trans it moves out pretty good!

I'm going to pretty much do what you suggested except I'll probably just do the billet flex plate. As far as the converter i'd like to get Bodie's manifold on my truck to see how differently the t66 lights, then I'll decide on the stall rpm I need and get your guys opinions. As it sits now something that stalls to 1800rpm is what i'm thinking.

It's time you take the party to the rear wheels. Sounds like you have some good internal leakage in the trans.

Nick remember our discussion? It's easy man! Just call Dave and get what you need and take your time. You will be very pleased! If funds are there that is........
