My 12v project
Well it all started when we had a 1997 12valve work truck go "belly up", or so they thought. I work for a general contractor as a project manager and this was one of our old work trucks. It sat outside in the rain and snow for a year and a half and one day they had it loaded up on a trailer and were ready to haul it in to the crusher for it's weight based value (this was before cash for clunkers. ha ha) Any way the boss man ended up giving me the truck for $200. Little do they know the only thing it needs is a fuel shut off solenoid!! You guys helped me diagnose the solenoid a while back to get it running and i don't think i've stopped tinkering with it since. The truck has 280,000 miles and it honestly runs like new! It's simply amazing. I added a 100 plate and gauges to the mix and it wasn't long till the clutch was unable to hold it together any more. This is what happened next. :ba
I decided that while I was doing the clutch I might as well pull the motor and clean/reseal the whole thing since there wasn't a gasket or seal that held oil any more.
Then I decided that it would be fun to do a little tweaking while i had it apart. One thing leads to another!!
While my head was sent off to Snedge for a little machine work (who did a great job!) I worked on cleaning and painting. I also went throught the entire bottom end and checked tolerances and made sure everything was groovy. (to my suprise it was!)
Here's a list of stuff i have accomplished thus far:
-hx35 over S400 setup from source
-ARP hs
-o-ringed head from Mumau
-re-seal entire motor and painting parts as i go
-took care of KDP
-CLEAN and CLEAN some more
-New h20 pump
-60lb exhaust springs
-4K GSK
-5"exhaust from the s400 back
-Valair 13" Single disk rated for 600HP
There are a few others i'm sure but that's it for now. I will be updating this over the next few months as i progress. I am open for any constructive criticism you guys are willing to provide. This is a slow process as i am very busy at work and this is not a daily driver. Thanks guys!

Don't try anything with that single disk mine welded after 800 miles. That's great that you saved this pickup from the crusher and the build looks real purty.

Nice looking build! I'm thinking about sending my spare head to snedge to have it done up--I'm starting to use coolant out the tailpipe... What color did you paint the engine? Looks minty...

What particular S400 is that? Are you doing any work to the stock 35? I'm debating 35 or HE351 over S400 on my 99.

Nothing wrong with the build, add 4K's and a well tuned AFC and it will run like a mad dog.

I think it is a 75mm. Sorry for my ignorance. I am going to leave the 35 alone for right now. I Just rebuilt it for now.

Where did you get your rebuild kit, how much, & what all was included? Any special tools needed?

Sorry i missed that one. I ordered the rebuild kit from our dealership. It included Journal bearings, thrust bearing, shaft locknut, seals and retaining rings ext.. Snapring pliers are probably the most specialized tool i used! Kit was $70 ish.. i don't remember for sure. it's been a while since i ordered it.
