Custom Blanket Measurements
If you find yourself needing custom blankets, or just not knowing which blanket will fit your application. There's a couple simple measurements you can take that will tell you. On aftermarket turbo's, I need to know if it's internally waste gated or not, and I need the flange to flange radius around the exhaust housing, here's a crude pic of what I'm talking about.
For hot pipes, I need length and diameter of the pipe, that's it. Always measure around the outside of any bends. Custom blankets are based off material used, I don't charge more to do custom blankets, more material, more cost. It's not a time oriented issue for me.
If you have something different or odd shaped you're needing covered, pictures are helpful. You can never take too many measurements, so take what you think is necessary and I can use what I need.
Hopefully this clears up any confusion, it should also help speed up the ordering process and help make sure I get you the right blanket the first time.

Sounds good! Hopefully this will help. Good luck this season, I'll be keeping an eye out for the article in diesel power.

How long have you had those now? 6+ months?

Yes sir, I still do for CompD members. $200 bucks shipped for a turbo/manifold blanket combo. Even if you bought one for a stock turbo/manifold it would still save you $15+shipping. With an S400 it saves about $27+shipping.

What about a turbo and hot pipe discount?
Also what people that already have an older style turbo blanket, can we send the old one to upgrade to the pic?

I'm not sure how I can accurately offer a combo price for hot pipes. They vary so much in size that there might be one guy who doesn't save anything or it's more expensive, then another guy who saves alot. I'll have to think on that for a bit and see if I can come up with an accurate combo price to help everyone out.
Either way, I usually like to discount to guys ordering multiple blankets.
As far as a blanket upgrade, what pic are you referring to? The guys who have the older blankets that have torn or had issues have always been welcome to send them in for repairs. I normally do it at no cost to them unless I can't save the blanket. In which case they get the option for a heavily discounted new one.
I can always add/remove material to make a blanket fit better if that's what the customer wants.

Opps, I thought the pic was the blanket.
I need more material since I have the SS housing probably 4" at least maybe a lil more.
Mine is coming unraveled, it was one of the first. I've spoke to you a few times. Just haven't took the time to send it off. I plan to soon

Yeah, just send it when you get time. I can fix all the issues with it and make it bigger if that's what you need. Like I said, if it's too far gone, I'll discount a new one. This is for your S400 frame right? Non gated, I could always add the side flaps and grommets to make it easier to install/remove without tearing. I gotta have the blanket to do anything with it though.

Thanks Tim, but you're not getting off the hook that easy. Call me with measurements, you NEED the new blankets, you're updating your engine, might as well do the blankets too buddy. I'd like to have the new style on your setup and it's really gonna suck if I have to measure the turbos myself, Texas isn't exactly the next town over.

Said the pilot, us common folk have to use ground transportation on occasion. I've done that drive, not my idea of fun.

Now we're talking. I'd like to announce Turbo Performance will be doing house calls for beer and/or liqour. Please let me know what kind of beverage you are offering and that will determine the order in which I do my house calls. Kevin, you are obviously in 1st.
Are they still going to do the August event up there this year or is that done?

No problem, just give me a heads up when you're ready to ship so I can keep an eye out for it. I can usually get them back out the same day I get them, if not, the day after.
