Dont know if its the right place to put this but im sure it will be moved if its not...

I got 2.5" coil spacers on the truck right now and I hate them. Im lookin into lowering it. I have new flanges made for bolting down the shock hoop and I have new custom U-bolts for when I take out the blocks in the rear. I have never really seen a "lowered" 4x Cummins or lower than factory ride height... I really like how the 97 fords 4x's look honestly, lower but still 4x function.

Can anyone think of any problem I may run into when I do this? I want to go lower in the front but that would require custom coils which would run me about $400 a piece. Anyone know a place or company I could buy some coils for the front?

There are lowered dodges around.
I am planning on lowering mine ~2". I heard 3/4 of a coil in the front? Machining down the rear blocks.

Cutting coils? Dont like the sound of that. They are wound tightly and ground flat at the ends for a reason.

I took out my spacers tonight and im doing the rear tomorrow. Im gonna machine the blocks down 2'' and go from there. I really want no blocks in the rear and the front level with it.

Lucky Jeff, were did you find custom coils for 225?

dont cut ur springs truck will ride like chit. take the rear blocks out completely. it looks great with stock height in the front. it will sit with just a slight sag but it looks awesome. lota guys in my area have done the same thing

I'm not much for the dog with worms look.... Save that for the chevy guys.

Ride quality does not suffer. These are not progressive springs, cutting them has no affect on the spring rates. The only reason they are ground flat is to sit square in the spring pocket, if it makes you feel better you can grind them flat again.

Stock in the front and 4" lower in the rear? That would be be a **** load more than a slight sag.

Here is 1 coil off front springs and stock in the rear.

The truck to the right has a 2" leveling kit.

Blocks completely out and stock coils in the front? Its gonna look like a space shuttle when I put a trailer behind it! I already had that when I had my 2.5'' spacers in the front.

After driving the truck today with the spacers out I already like it much more, and its easier to wash. LOL I like the look of my 285's stuffed in the fender wells in the front, and I put a load of tooling in the back of my truck at work and the truck was almost level, maybe 1/4'' higher in the rear and I loved it.

Roachie, did you cut the top or bottom of the coil?

I really want to drop my truck down.. But no one makes a damn tire that can haul any weight..

Thanks roachie, think im gonna look into doing that next week. Next problem is bump stop in the rear, i am kinda limited to what I can machine off the block and still have that tab. I dont want to buy blocks.

Jeff, what you mean no one makes a tire that can handle some weight? How low do you want to go? Your truck is 4x right?

Yup 4x.. Although I was thinking about 22's when I said that. I forgot that tires for my 20's can handle a little more. Still not what I'd like, but doable.

Well I got a guy thats prob gonna sell me his springs he has layin around. They are for 2'' lower than factory. Will keep posted.

Problem I see now is if I go any lower it looks like my track bar is going to hit the top of my diff. Roachie, did you run into this problem when you cut yours?

Here is what my old 99 looked like after I put 1/2 ton springs in the front and took the blocks out of the rear. There was no engine in when I took the picture, it dropped almost 2" more in the front when the block was put in.

thanks for the pic James. I think I'll be leaving some sort of block in the rear when its all said and done.
