Waste engine oil for fuel

So I just realized I have an unlimited supply of used oil at work. What steps should be done for filtration? Thinking a 75% mixture wouldnt be too bad.

Did you try searching noobee???

It's been discussed here before. Not that I recall any results from back when I read them. LOL

Make sure, no water, coolant or brake fluid. Pump it through the finest filter you can find and keep it at 50% oil or less. I ran it in my Y2k PS with no problem.

Yes filter it first. The problem with waste oil are the wear metals. 50% is the most extreme mix I would consider with properly filtered oil.

Gravity filter for three weeks 50 gallons at a time, have a drain on each drum about 6 inches above the bottom of the tank. When draining, filter through a series of different micron filters. Some guys like to centrifuge, but if you know what quality oil your getting from work, you don't really have to. Being that your at the shop your getting the oil from, you've already killed off most of the biggest scares. Don't let idiots but crap oil or mixed oil into your drums and you'll be fine.

Also I wouldn't go over a 60%(diesel) to 40%(oil) mix unless you know its low mile oil

I was thinking a 2micron filter and run it though my 99. Mostly because it has an 11mm pump and I really dont care about it.

If you filter it to 2 micron first yes but you will have a hard time getting enough volume through a 2 micron on the truck being it is a lot thicker

on the vw I run it through a 30 mesh screen and that's it

Pump it through a filter and dump it in the truck. I think that filter is 5 micron.

I have been there done that with waste oil and yes it can be done

I run the vw on straight waste oil and also the dodge p pump

if you do it like some others said filter it good I get away with 5 micron
I think you may want to ask him what engines are in his various Fords.

Yep. I can't remember for sure but I think the filter is 3 or 5 micron. It's finer than most fuel filters used today. It still goes through the filter on the truck also.

if you can get all the carbon out then its fine. but its been talked to death about on another forum im on. veggie oil is perferd.

I would say filter, filter, filter, centrifuge, then filter again on the truck. As Snedge said, the wear metals would be my concern, and the soot can't help much.
