im thinking of going to go get that motor next week im looking at running my pump at 350cc to 450cc for daily driveing then run it at 900cc for pulls. need to talk to a engine builder to see what i ned to do to support the power it could make. what harware you think im gonna need to support that kind of fuel?

Brad, what condition are the pump, cam, and push rods in? I'm wanting to put out roughly 900HP or so and still drive it on the street.LOL What power level where these part designed to support? I'm new to the DT466 performance world and I can't get much information about this stuff from Columbus or Sheid. That pump is 1150cc max, can it be adjusted as needed? That turbo, would it be something that will be good in a twin set up?

Sorry for all the questions...... Just trying to learn all I can before buying stuff that may not be what I need.

Once I get my tax return, I'm going to be looking for more parts. If you can wait that long. I'll may can do some business with you.

re

everything is in good condition. these parts are still currently on my 3 charger diesel superstock tractor. I am currently 1600-1900 hp with 3 chargers. This camshaft is an excellent all around cam that is probably one of the more streetable performance cams for a 466. Hypermax uses this cam in multiple applications from farmstock to super stock. the pump is wide open currently on fuel and can be turned down as needed. I do not have a "card" for the pump but usually one turn equals 100cc.

the turbo would be good for a single charger or would be excellent for the base charger for a twin set up.

it is better to ask questions then spend money then to spend money and not have what you want or need.

900 hp is easily achieved from a dt466 especially if going with twins and the engine will easily stand 900 hp but will need a few minor tweeks.

feel free to email or you may call my cell at 573717----------00--85

Thanks a ton for the information. I send you an email. I will have to wait for tax return, but, I hope I can get some of those parts.

I really appreciate your input on my build. I've gotten sick of trying to talk to the previously listed shops about what pump, injectors, and especially what turbos would be good for a streetable 900 or so HP DT466. What is your two cents on a streetable set of twins for my project. Meaning what would be a good second charger to go along with the S480? I need some boost at lower RPM so I don't smoke out the neighbors going to and from work everyday.LOL

Also, will that cam not work with roller lifters? That's what I have in my '93 DT466C

Good to hear from someone that's actually done it!
I've had a few ideas of what could make a good combo, but that would be a spendy experiment. I was thinking an HX40/16 with a big external W/gate. pretty quick spooling, yet good flow for the upper power range.

still looking for your email. i just re read your entire post and saw what you have posted about some quotes on parts needed etc.

I am afraid that that my cam would not work for the roller lifters, but the big lifter flat tappet lifters that i have would drop in your block and you could use my cam, gear, lifters and push rods. my push rods will not work with the roller cam either because flat tappet and roller cams have different length push rods. I have always been told the roller lifters would eat the flat tappet cam surface because roller was harder than cam surface.

I have been studying different plans of attack for your project. i would love to talk to you on the phone. I think i can further expand what is needed and why etc. I think I have more parts than what I listed that would be useful to you and/or leads to get some stuff done cheaper than your posted quotes.

Most high performance builders dont have the time or dont take the time to develop a plan of attack. several builders dont listen to what you want/need they only assume and state that you need almost everything.

look forward to hearing from you.

Brad, I send you another email. I hope I have the corrct address. Thanks a ton for your help. I need a good plan for what parts I need and where the best place is to get them at a reasonable price. I'd be happy to call you if that would be easier.

I have the P-pump, lines, S480, and rods from Brad. We were talking about a good top (large) turbo for my DT466. He suggested a Air Research T18A95. Anyone have some more information on these turbo's, what size housings, upgrades, and any other suggestions?

Thanks again Brad.

Holey moley....an S480 as a small charger? I'm shocked and stunned, with a little intrigue.

In talking with Brad, he was concerned that I will over speed the S480 even with the 132 exhaust housing, and perhasp I should externally wastegate it into the larger top charger. That Hypermax pump puts out a ton of fuel and I need a ton of air to burn it. I will likely turn it down to 800 or so cc to keep the power and smoke reasonable.

Still don't know what charger to put on top of it.

Why not Triple S480's??????

Now that would make a killer turbo set up!!!!

If someone is still looking for a DT...... 1996 International 4700 Salvage Dt466 Allison Parts | eBay

If someone doesnt buy this, I want to!!! Perfect for a conversion! Although I would love to strip parts of for my project!!! Got the motor I want plus a BIG rear axle that sure would be fun to throw in the back!!!

Anyone got 1500 bucks to loan me????

That's a 'smokin' deal! Looks like it has the MD3060 trans too, which are big bucks to buy. That's gotta be calling someone's name for a 1 ton pickup swap!

i just want the engine and rear end out of it. If i can find the money to get it, im sure i could get it all back plus some by parting out the rest of the truck!!!

Met up with Brad again at the Mayfield, Ky pulls. He's got a T18A-95 turbo on his tractor that will be replaced by a different charger at the end of the season. I'm going to grab it up and I'll be set for my air and fuel.

I'm back to working on my 6.9 crew cab. It blew a headgasket and I think I've got a crack head as well. I've got to rebuild it this winter. I was hoping to start on the frame mods to get the DT466 in the truck this winter and start modifying other parts, but, once again, it will have to wait.

Still looking for a SCS transfer case.

Nice! Glad someone else is doing a project like this! Im going S L O W but its going. So Far the frame is ready for a rear axle, once that is welded in, Im gonna worry about the driveline and getting the engine mounted.

Throwing a gutted cab on top of everything should be the easy part!

I have some questions and it seems like you guys know what your talking about. First does a 275 hp truck dt466 have bigger injectors or is it all in the pump compared to a 210 hp version? Does anyone know what the stock mw pump can push hp wise? And how much would a dt466 gain from going to say a 66mm turbo with the stock pump all the way up. I have a 210 hp version in a bus with the mw pump turned all the way up (country concert camping rig) and it seems like it would see huge gains just going to a different turbo since the stock one is tiny. These are just some questions i have had since i want to put one in a truck and kinda would like to know how much cheap power i can get. Thanks
