Shootin for 1000. Horse that is.

Good to see you're still workin on this....any time you need me to come bring my truck out of retirement, let me know LOL

Ron, what all did you have done to that truck while it was still a ve?
I've always wanted to ask you that.

Very little actually, just a Banks kit and GV overdrive. Piers talked me out of messing with the VE and steered me into the p-pump even though there were alot of problems with 24V/p7100 conversions back then. Fortunately the problems went away once better injectors became available.

That was a big jump then!

Oh im still working on it alright. Slower than I'd like but I do what I can with funds. The springs woulda been here today but the UPS guys always drop stuff off that need a signature when Im at work. :bang

Should have the head on soon-ish. Still gotta swap in a cam and check PTV clearance. Im thinking it will move under its own power late Sept with the way stuff's been going. The sooner this piles done the way I want it, the sooner I can do my 2nd gen, then finally my 78 D100.

ahale- how was setting the cam up in your 89? I have the same one to put in, any clearance issues?

Sorry I didnt reply back, it was a pain of a job, like any in chassis cam swap, cant pull the cam out unless you sawzall a piece out of the core support. Also wayyy easier to do if
You jack the back of the truck so that the engine is level, so you can fish the lifters into place.

Best thing to do is to find a good reason to pull the motor

You are going to feed 1000hp through a getrag?

Well mine lasted for several years at 600+hp then it was freshened up before stepping up the power to 700+hp in 2010.

Last time it dynoed November 2011 it had several runs at over 800+ with the highest one being 899.3hp. Its still alive for now and we will see how long it lasts with this new motor.

If it ever goes out I will be putting an automatic in its place.

Make sure its overfilled by 1 to 1 1/2 quarts and they seam to last a pretty long time. I have heard that internally they are pretty close to the NV4500 stock vs stock. We just dont have any options for upgraded parts like they do for the 4500. Plus you cant find any new shafts or anything for them so if they self destruct thats it.

Good luck with the project.

When I rebuilt my g360 when I first got it, I got an input and mainshaft from zbag no problem, even got the 29-29 spline adaptor, but was told that it was one of the last new ones out there.

I think any good parts supplier can still wrangle up some g360 parts.

There was one guy on 1stgen that made a custom input for his rag, id like to see what breaks after the input.

I don't hear much about a getrag and high horse power that's why I asked. I have heard about putting a 1 3/8 input in the g360 he pulls his last I heard it is p-pumped now so time will tell.

Sorry I aint been around here fellas. Yes, im going to feed the power through the getrag. It'll probably die. She whines like a son of a gun, 670k original miles on it, no syncros in 3rd or 4th. When or if she pops, Im thinking of a 48RE swap with a standalone TCM system.

So far, she's moving slow. Life gets in the way and steals my money. The 01 needs a T-case rebuild, tires, trac bar, all the crap to make a DD live and be useful. But so far, Heads studded down, 188 cam done with 24v tappets, push rods, 14mm head swap in the pump done, 5x20 sticks on the way. Working on some wiring issues and making flanges for the header.
