Rule Changes for 2014?

Smoothbore would have been a great idea, I mentioned it before protrusion, but guys didn't want it then, and I'm not sure they want it now, so...

If they "neck" area is considered the area outside the bore such as the green arrow, it will still allow a groove that feeds the compressor wheel completely bypassing the 2.6" bore.

correct

My point is simple, both style covers now allow air to completely bypass the 2.6" bore, if the desire is to actually restrict power, just put the groove behind the clipped part of the wheel again, this would most likely be the simplest solution.

Im not arguing with you just telling you what ppl has decided and what they mean by it right or wrong.

any class that allows a mwe will have people try to exploit it. slick Is the answer but it wont happen this season.

What the phuck is the problem? Why cant it just be simple. Def sounds like builders chirping in the ears of those that will listen

3.0 has the same wording as the 2.6. Has anybody got Meers on the phone and got a definite answer? It takes him 2 months to get back to me. My charger is in for inspection and if I get it back and find out its not legal I'm going to be pissed! Whether I keep it or its sold it can be changed while they have it

Doesn't matter if you get him on the phone or not. You have to get it in writing and go by that. Might as well expect the existing chargers to be legal.

I am thinking it will be the same as last year, but as one member stated in conversation, We will find out at the first event (probably TS) when we find out who got kicked out for illegal turbos. That is not a good time to find out.

True but maybe someone could give PPL a heads up that their rule wording skills suck and they need to clarify this mess!

I sent John a couple clarifying questions and here are his responses. I think this makes the rules a little clearer.

Hi John,

I saw the new rules on the website. Just a couple of clarifications:

1. MWE Groove-Am I correct in assuming that essentially you want the groove to be on the outside radius of the 2.6 bore (not in the 2.6 bore itself) but close to the wheel so that someone doesn’t make a 0.200” groove with a diameter that is 8” ?
2. Dual Rear Wheels only permitted-Essentially you are trying to exclude folks putting front duals on not excluding single rear wheel trucks?
3. I didn’t seen any rule changes about rear suspension on the website. Were there any changes to the following suspension language?

Suspension, Rear:
An OEM-style suspension is mandatory. Lowering or raising the vehicle height with suspension modifications is permitted. Traction bars and devises are permitted; they must be bolt on only; welds are permitted for attachment to frame or axle housing. All OEM suspension mounting points must be retained and used. Sway bars, limiting straps, and camber kits are permitted. All rear suspensions must use at least one working shock absorber per wheel. Airbag spring assistance is permitted; airbag compressors must be disconnected. Blocked suspension is permitted.

His reply:

1. Correct.
2. Correct.
3. I omitted it. Solid rear suspension can be used.

If the MWE groove is as you say (not in the 2.6 bore itself), then it is not an MWE groove, it is a second inducer, and there lies the real issue.

This is a damn train wreck!!!!

I'm going to go back and build pumps. WOW

Its a MWE groove as long as it still feeds the 2.6" bore of the turbo.

Either way I was simply posting for clarification.

Sure its a map with enhancement grove......LOL to the right!

Seriously a real MWE groove bleeds air from the inducer. Making it easier to spin and move the surge line to the left.

These "MWE" have nothing to do with that.
