My first 12v manifold build

I wouldnt hesitate to use 304 stainless. Its going to warp no matter what you use. Just make sure the fit up is as tight as possible, clamp everything down tight, and go for it. The more filler you use, the worse the warpage will be.

That's what i was thinking. Stainless will look gorgeous. And i plan to get it as tight as possible. Just worried about warping and have a scrap metal..
Will back purging help any? Straight argon?

Straight argon, yup, and get a little flow meter off eBay or somewhere so you can monitor your purge. Argon is too expensive to do it like you are working in the oil field and just poke an open hose into the hole and let it rip. I tape all openings and poke a small hole somewhere so the argon has a place to push the oxygen out other than the joint I'm welding on.

On your purge hose mount a small brass exhaust muffler. This will keep turbulence down and get a better back purge. Just close ends up with some aluminum foil.

here is my manifold

Is there enough room there to get a socket on the nut to tighten it to the head (cyl 3&4)?
And are you going to take some weight out of it or screw it, it's a diesel?

Looks sweet though!

there is plenty
I am still trimming the weight off and cleaning up as to not leave it so heavy.
I brought it to work to use the big TIG welder and it was 40 lbs.

I used the flyfutter to make a better seal on my turbo mounting
Also got some of the (T)'s and elbows fitted better still alot ahead.
