Governor springs- how tight?

I do drive it a lot on the street. Y’all making me question everything again haha I do appreciate the help tho.

When do I have to start worrying about my bottom end?

Haha. Everyday buddy.
I know it goes without saying that these engines are ridiculously durable, but @ 350,000K even a completely stock 12 valve is rolling into it's senior years.

Hahaha I don’t need that negativity Jeff!

I should have stuck to LSx and Jeeps. All that shit seems cheap compared to even an old 12v.

If your engine doesn't have much blowby,

And when you dump out the oil filter you don't see any bearing flakes, your good to go.

Other than upgrading your spring keepers, the stock ones are bad about pulling the retainers through with higher spring pressure. And O-ring the head, you will be fine. These old motors are tough, reason I love them.

Yea I’ve been studying on valvetrain upgrades. Very opinionated subject on brands for that it seems. I’ve kept an eye on mine though. Stock springs anyways.

Makes vapor out the oil fill like everyone I’ve seen. Never checked with a monometer.

Buddy of mine, Matt Wells, was running 11.90's back in 2003, back when that was fast. Truck he started with had 325k miles.

It's been low 11's nowadays, still runs strong today.
He's beat on it hard over the yrs, street racer.

I think he said it's like 370k miles on the same engine last I talked to him.

I know the thread very well. Saved on my phone. Short bed with a 369 right?

I’d like to run some mid to high 7’s. All 1/8 mile racing here. At least start with the right fuel and air to get me there.

Sorry I had wrong name. Not sure if I know of your friends truck.

Matt wells was silver single cab 2wd. Ran a turbonetics 66 single I believe. Friends with Garmon. I remember now haha another thread I’ve read over and over.

Turbonetics 66mm, with a small hotside, yep.

I think he runs something different on it now, like a borg 64mm.

He lives about two miles down the road from me.

I have a story about that turbonetics charger.

They had a race in Bradenton for 25k prize money, had to be dot tires, and a max of a 66mm single charger.

I half assed rounded up a 465 and entered my street truck, ran a couple high 11.8.

Matt talked me in to running that turboN charger off his truck, it spooled stupid quick and surged so bad about 400ft down track I lifted, it also stuffed up and quit pulling before that.

His truck had a 320k mile 160 pump, and ran quick with that charger.
I put my 13mm pump running it at 500cc's, and that little charger was about to explode.

Hahah man I bet that turbine was hanging on for dear life.

Those threads that I have saved or the reason I thought I could get away with a single and still have fun driving to work. A lot of them were t3 but have a couple 467 threads that seemed to do pretty good.

Brad Ponci is someone else who helped me when I asked. His 64mm single did awesome on his 160 pump. Think he got low 11’s before the compounds. 11.2 or 11.4 maybe. Mid 7’s 1/8 mile for sure.

Yep, a T3 S300 64mm is a whole lot quicker to light,
Than a S467.

I run the billit wheel 467.7 as a secondary on my old drag truck, with a 485.

But no way I'd run that charger as a high pressure on a stock 12v. Go compounds man, promise you it's the way to go.

Hahaha I don’t need that negativity Jeff!

You've confused negativity with honesty. You asked, I answered. There is also a difference between worry and fear. LOL
I would not be afraid to crank on that 12 valve.

Ten four. I’ll hit the search bar haha

I may seem like a fanboy, but PDD has some great compound videos for 12v’s. Most recent customer 12v had a 362/476 and made 900 on the dyno after a head swap. With supporting mods.
