So, co-worker has a bike he's had since 93. stock CBR with about 23,000 miles. I think this would be a good race from 30+ and/or 60+.

I'm running a 6 speed and I have yet to mess around with launching with the TNT software and new turbo and injectors and what not.

The fun starts around 11:30-ish today. Loser buys a round of beers for the others department. :)

On a 30 roll I can smoke up the tires, so 4x4 is necessary up until 5th. This should be fun.

Back in the day I had an 87 CBR 600 Hurricane, totally stock with the exception of a V&H slip on, that would run 12's. 12.2 being my best, 12.6 being my worst. My 03 CBR 600 F4i was much quicker but I never got to the track for an official time. I could see him running very low 12's. maybe high 11's
Good luck

Well, hence on a roll. My truck should be doors with a mid 12 second auto ASSUMING I have 600hp :) it's more then the 512 I had last time I dynoed that's for sure.

I know these older bikes with the smaller tire and some 600's are quick, but I have surprised more then my fair share.. if the bike is a 500. it's like racing a Harley. :)

It's all fun, no grudges, just BSing and good times. :)

It's unfortunate tho his window doesn't face where he parks. I wish I had my camera ready on my phone. pulled up to the bike. Tail pipe 2 feet away and let her rip a few revs. :) It did look rather cool when about 1/2 the smoke dissipated.

I raced a CBR600 with my truck at the track... I ran a 12.43 and he ran a 12.28

I used to have a 95 CBR600 F3 and that bike was quick for a 600...I think you might make it interesting, but no way you'll win. I want to see video though, this sounds like fun :D

I'd like to keep my weight down :) :hehe: no video's from my truck. :hehe:

I'm under 1/2 tank and tail gate and spare are int he garage (where they typically stay.

tho, I'll see about a video if anyone has "something" to video it with.

it's not going to happen any time soon. Some serious embarrassment and harassment will be required to keep this guy from say "When I get my 1000cc bike fixed, blah blah blah".

So, no race. He just keeps pussin' out. he was gun hoe this morning and at 11:30, he's like naw naw naw..

I'm sure i'll find a bike or two this year, so no worries. :)

A CBR 600 in good tune and repair will KILL your CTD.

I raced my buddy's 97' CBR 600 on my 99' CR 250 a few years back. I beat him off the line through 1st and 2nd. As I was in the meat of 3rd gear, still leaning forward as my CR had the HP to wheelie over in 3rd with just throttle, he blew by me doing about 110 MPH in 2nd gear.

The launch is what kills the 600 in a drag race, once rolling.... they are wicked fast. 14K redline, killer HP to weight ratio, your CTD is a sitting duck.

If, however, you had an AUTO and could stand a 20 psi boosted launch, you would beat him off the line, probably even to the 1/8th mile mark and then he would come up quick and pass you before the 1/4 mile.

Driver error is removed when the bike is already moving. Launching is the most difficult part of bullet bike racing, once you're rolling, any idiot can twist the throttle.

Good luck with a 1000 cc bike. I raced one of those too, it pulled me out of the hole and never looked back. Heck, I even pulled out my CR 500 once to race my buddy's R1 and that was even sad. CR500 = 65 HP, 250lbs + 200 lb driver, great HP/Weight ratio.

Have fun though, I would race one with my slow truck just to see/test and have fun.

I've taken 4 or 5 CBR 600's at a roll with my truck! No spray, just fuel..It takes 4 lanes to keep the smoke off them but when I spool I leave them by 3 or 4 lengths

I don't see a truck whooping the bike. The best advantage the truck would have would be to take him at the line, as you can put 4 tires on the ground, where the bike has to worry about getting a good launch, as most of the bikes are turds under 6000. I had a yzfR6 about 9 years ago. That thing was kind of a slouch out of the hole. Any of the roll on races I did, the biggest deal was dropping the two gears to get the R's up, and then it was gone! That was a sweet bike, awesome blue color, and I if I recollect had a 15.5K redline!
Now I once rode a haybusa and that was just freaking scary, 55mph rollon and the thing wanted to lift the front end.

I agree with a few of the other guys that think the bike will walk away easily.

I am knocking on the door of 900hp and i doubt i could take a CBR600 from a roll.

Just my .02

But since it's all for fun, run him anyway.

hmmmm Well, the math doesn't work out into my favor when comparing a bike to a truck (600#/88hp vs 7200#/600hp), as such a comparison is as much of a difference from an apple to onion as you can get.

However. I have ran 500cc's and they are in the ball park when I was at 512 dyno hp (485 1/4 mile track hp). Based on other stories and tried and true 1/4 mile times on average in the mid 12's for a 600cc bike. at least up to 100mph-ish it should be a good race. Assuming the truck gets the leave to make up for turbo lag.

In theory with 600hp (and an auto) according to compd's hp calc. that's 12.5 at 107. if I'm near that hp level, it shouldn't be as big of a differnece as you all may think. I have not a doubt I'll trap near 107mph, but with a low ET of prolly 13.2

But there's only one way to find out. and this "life time croch rocket rider" hasn't the bawls apparently.

See, bikes ahead to the same principle as trucks tho. Infact, their aerodynamics are crap compared to a corvette over 120mph or so. I'd think Comp461's X truck would killed a CBR600 bike at roll at 900hp and keep a head if not pull on one at near 190mph. THAT would be a video to see.

Yes, but look at the frontal area of the bike. It may not be the most aero dynamic, but it has such a small frontal area.
