We have an F550 dump truck at work and it only gets used around town, so when it goes into regen, I try to mob it down the freeway to get it to complete the cycle. But what do you do when it's not possible? Is it cool to just shut it down? It always seems to do it at the most inopportune time. I think it hates me. Any way to do a parked regen?
It has already gone thru one dpf that cracked under warranty and a plugged egr. Under 20,000 miles.

only way to do a parked regen is with a Ford IDS or similar scan tool

it's not great to shut it down, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do

In a situation like this where the truck sees no highway miles, should the egr be removed and cleaned on a regular basis? These things need to be run hard on occasion to clean the emissions system correct?

I work for the government. I don't think I could get a PO to put a tuner on a work truck. Would be nice though.
