What all is involved? I cant find a 727 for my truck and I've seen a few 518's for sale and the overdrive would be nice anyways... So hard is this do do, anybody done it? Thanks!

Depends if it's 4x4 or not.

I did it on my 2wd regular cab, it required:

A new yoke for the transmission.
Custom driveshaft.
Custom mounting plate (steel plate with holes in it).
Custom wiring connector for the overdrive plug.

It bolted in pretty easily.

Overdrive is controlled by a two-wire plug facing vertically, behind where the shift linkage connects. I've connected mine to a toggle switch and wouldn't have it any other way.

If it's a 4x4, you're probably looking at additional crossmember and driveshaft work. But they use the same torque converter and bellhousing.

Might want to consider a better flexplate when you reinstall.

Thanks! I think this is the route i'm gonna try and go with it...

can you use the toggle to put it in or take it out of over drive when you need too?

Yes. Depending on your creativity you could use a toggle to bypass the computer entirely, or to provide a manual "force overdrive" switch while keeping the option for the computer to do it's own thing.
