'93 CTD With GD 60mm Turbo Upgrade

No, it's still a bearing, bad oil will eat it up too. Is the thrust the bearing that keeps going out? Did you replace the drain line for the turbo and what size is it? What size is the feed line and did it get replaced?

Yes it is the thrust plate that keeps going out. The drain and supply line are new, a local shop made a stock spec supply line (copied the oem) and the drain line is new from Ebay (flange) and the rubber line is stock size local Autozone. If my problem is contamination in my oil wouldn't all the bearings go out at approximately the same time?

OK next question.

Whats the process you use for breaking in the turbo IE from install to driving?

The last 3 turbos have been In great condition used turbos. But for the rebuilt and new ones i had was as follows:
1. Fill turbo inlet with new oil
2. Prime turbo supply line with FSS unpluged (cranking only)
3. Turn on engine and bring to temp ideling.
4. Drive around 15-20 min light driving no Wot.
5. Next 300-400 miles normal driving no Wot.
6. Check shaft play (never see any shaft play here)

All this is done with a new oil change. The money is starting to add up with replacement turbos and new oil every 1000-1500 miles. At 1000 miles i notice shaft play at 1300ish miles i can hear the turbo squeling.

Next question how can i tune this engine for N/A driving. Im serriously considering this till my new engine is done.
