96 PSD running rough, help

i have a buddy with a 96 PSD, he called tonight and he is having a problem with his truck. he started it the other morning and let it warm up while he hooked his trailer up, he took off got about 2 miles away and he said it just started to run like it was on 4 cylinders. he limped home parked it and started looking at it, he replaced the fuel pump (on the frame) and it didnt help. he said that it will start and run fine for about 4-5 seconds then it starts idling rough, and he can rev it up to about 2500 but it misses and acts up and the check engine light comes on. he says he is in a bind, he needs a truck for work and he cant get it running to take it to a shop. any help to get it running would be great. any suggestions? thanks
 
Yes, they pass through the gasket and have connectors on each side. Very common problem for the 7.3l
 
thank ya much, is there a way to test them or do they appear burnt? just trying to help the guy out.
 
Do an injector buzz test or you can unplug it while it is running but watch out for the 120vdc it hurts as much as a sparkplug wire
