Broken cam gear

Anyone ever hear of a cam gear breaking out the inner circle thru the three slots of the gear?
 
I had one break like that. I had an aftermarket cam installed and suspect a torch was used to heat the gear. Blueish tint on the gear.$.02
 
What engine CR or 12v gear style? I know the CR is paper thin compared to the 12v cam gear
 
i soak the gear in HOT water for 30 minutes then press it on and tig it. i wouldn't use a torch.
 
The said gear was a 24v with the toner ring. I think it would have been off an 01 or 02.
It didnt have any kind of discoloration. It was on a Schied camshaft with a bolted keeper and support roller bearing in the front cover.
