Compushift mini 47RH

Only on 94-97 ones with large out put shafts. 98-02 do not have them from what I remember. However, I have looked into cutting grooves in the out put shaft to retain the VSS drive gear. The tcase housing should be easy enough to cut the hole in and tap the hole for the retaining bolt. I just never got around to doing it.
Very correct. I shouldn't have been so quick to answer. Mine is a 96 with 8800 gvw.

I also have a 97 dhd case in my 98. I'm in the process of building a motor otherwise I'd buy it and do the swap. This would be a slick setup if we can get it to work on our trucks. I like cheap AND efficient lol

I have a 98 DHD, do you suppose it would be possible to mount a drive gear on the shaft? I could see it being kind of difficult to cut the shaft to do so? Mounting the sensor wouldn't be an issue but could you clarify a bit on how you planned on mounting the gear

The gear just slides on the output shaft. It is splined inside, so it just slips over the output shaft splines. You just have to figure out the spacing for the grooves, and cut them. I had planned to chuck an output shaft in the lathe and use a cut off wheel to cut them. If someone had a 94-97 big out put DHD torn apart, they could measure their out put shaft and tell you where the 2 grooves need cut. The only DHD we have with a VSS on it is in my brother's 96 and it's going to Oregon in the morning.

I had a thought of trying to cut the rear housing hole where the VSS would go, put the housing back on the t case, try to find some thing to mark the center of the hole, and stick something through the hole to mark the out put shaft. Using a paint marker, sharpie, or what ever. Using the mark on the out put shaft, measure the distance half as wide as the speedo drive gear for the out put shaft, and make a mark on either side of the line you made on the out put shaft. Get the grooves cut and install the retaining rings and drive gear and you should be ready to go. I was going to do this on my 72 Chevy, but I took the DHD out and put a 205 in it when I did the manual to auto swap.

I emailed them to get dome more info. Im trying to see if this speed sensor can be used instead of a cable. I hope so because I want to use this setup on my Cummins build.

I've been speaking with Michael Hoy at HGM through email. This unit needs a functioning tps sensor and the 8pulse generator screws into the transmission. I know the older transfer case like my 241 on my 92 518 still screw in and run a ratio adapter like this.

I know this is a pic of a 205. He said they are working on one yo run off a factory vss but will be a while off. Now do the 241dhd have the spot for a screw in sensor like this? I'm away from mine right now.

Email I just got from Mike. Sounds like they are already improving it. I linked him to this thread.

I see some of the comments, we are making changes now to allow the factory speed signal to be used or our speed sensor.
As far as the pressure sensor shown it is being changed to work with a TPS, the trans does not have enough pressure range to make the sensor work well.
We have a number of these working with TPS and they seem to work very well.
They have throttle sensitivity for unlock on TCC and 4-3 downshift.
I look forward to helping you.

Mike

I have a small out put DHD in my wife's excursion. I need to check, but I think there is a VSS in it, but I can't remember. I hope it does. If your trans or tcase has an electric VSS, you can ditch it for the 727 style cable drive.

These are the pics my brother sent me of mine from the shop. This is my 94 241DHD.

This is my 241C out of a 92 Ramchager.

I'm sure I could find a similar setup if needed for the 241DHD but I'm hoping they come out with the ability to use the OEM speed sensor before I need it.

Good info^^^ it would be nice if they made a plug and play kit for 2nd and 3rd gens. This would make auto swap way more affordable for a lot off people wanting a daily driver. That would be awesome for it to perform 4-3 downshift and unlock features also.

I finally got around to calling up this guy. Mike is a great guy to talk to. So I told exactly what I want to do with my 98. He said no problem he makes a harness specifically for you. Told him I had a 12v in a 98 dodge. He will make you a harness that plugs into existing tps and to the rear end sensor to read my tone ring. All for $350 bones. So after I get my motor broke in I believe I'm going to use one of these to do an auto swap.

Now I realize it doesn't have the quite the programable side like a pcs or the fire punk setup. But for $350 I think it beats a manual vb and toggles.

I know a guy in Arizona that used one on his 72 Chevy 12 valve 47rh swap. He loves his. I have one for my truck but can't give any feedback because it's a huge project still.
