So I'm having some confusion on rods, bearings, and bolts and hopefully someone can help me sort it out. Truck is an 03 the block has a date of 06 on the side of it. ECM has the 03 ESN on it. But Im not sure what the rods are out of. Im hoping they are 89-02 rods but not sure. Theyre not the cracked rods they are machined. The machine shop ordered bearings for me and they are clevite CB-1873AP .25mm but the upper bearing is the only on that fits. the lower on on the cap doesnt fit. (tang is on the wrong side) From what I understand the CB-1873AP .25mm consists of an upper [(3901171) (supposed to be the same as 89-02)] and a lower (4892795) The next problem I ran into is with the rod bolts. The shop manual lists a TTY spec but the new rod bolts I got certainly dont look like they are TTY. Wondering if they are the right bolts or if there is a different torque spec for those bolts. Thanks in advance guys! I just hope someone who has some answers manages to make it all the way through my ramblings. Ill post some pictures of everything in just a second.

Thanks again -Chris

Those are the older rods. Is your crank cut?

If you let me know on journal size I can tell you what bearings you need.

Just thought I would post up and clarify all the info here for anyone else that might be looking at the same sort of set up. The rods in my motor are pre 03 thus using the clevite 1413 bearings consisting of (2) 3901171 bearings. The TTY rod bolts I pulled out of the rods are the correct ones and I picked up a new set and returned the fully threaded ones shown in the picture from Freightliner of Arizona. Correct rod bolts for pre 03 is: cummins part # 3900919. Thanks Snedge for the help!

The part# (3901171) bearing you listed is .010'' oversized. Just posting to avoid confusion for anyone with a standard size crank journal. The std. part # is 3901170, or 3969562. Either will work.

Thanks for the clarification! Forgot to put that in there.
