Diesel Fuel Injection Control Enhancements

There are two types of Diesel Fuel Control Enhancement products. The most common method is "fuel stretch". This method adds fuel injector opening duration to add fuel to the engine. The other method is fuel pressure increase. This method relies on added fuel pressure to the injectors to achieve more fuelingwithin the same injector pulse timing.

The fuel stretch method allows almost an unlimited amount of fuel injector opening duration. Most systems only add timing to the ground side of the injector to accomplish the task. Some systems can also extend the positive drive side of the injector. This method, used in conjunction with the ground drive method, allows very extensive timing to the injector.

Advantages
Long pulse width capabiltiy
High HP increase
Low RPM power increase

Disadvantages
High EGT's
Piston wall scoring
Injector fuel drain
Injector spray pattern unchanged
added exaust smoke
limited fuel economy increase

The fuel pressure method or "pressure box" allows better atomization of fuel through the injector nozzle due to finer spray patterns. This method increases power and torque due to added combustion efficiency. Injector timing is not affected.

Advantages
Wide RPM band power and torque
less EGT's
Better fuel economy
Low exaust smoke
No detectable ECM trace
No injector drain

Disadvantages
Limited power increase without injector modifications
Fuel delivery is limited to injector nozzle size

I take it your speaking ONLY of a 5.9 Commonrail.
