has anybody machined there pistons to drop the compression i was told by a company that dropping the compression 1 point would stop headgaskets from blowing

I am using reduced compression pistons from Mahle in the race truck motor. Keating shelly talked to me about removing some of the bowl. I wouldn't do it if you live where it gets really cold though.
 
It might hurt your off the line performance slightly until boost pressure has a chance to build. But lowering the compression will lower CP and allow more fuel/air to be packed into the cylinder.
