my sister was pulling a horse trailer up hill and her truck over heated. threw 3 codes.

p0480
p0217
p0483

truck is an 04 6spd with edge juice, afe intake, mbrp 5" and a fass 95.

im thinking fan clutch? any help?

sorry. guess i wasnt very clear. i know what the codes are. i am just trying to diagnose what caused them.

How big was the hill? What did the coolant get to? does it get hot all the time? we need a little more info...

very big hill. long steep grade for 20+ miles. coolant got to 240+. happened twice now in the exact same conditions. truck does not run hot normally.

You probably werent moving fast enough to draw cool air through the radiator, and if the engine rpms were too high, the fan wouldnt be spinning, so your truck will over heat.

was running 65mph+. and the truck has pulled the same hill with the same trailer a dozen times in hotter weather.

just talked to my sister and she said the truck is running hotter then normal towing or not now. got up to 220 pulling the same hill with no trailer. i am pretty sure its the fan clutch.
