Engine/coolant temp range and location?

Long story short, my gauge cluster is on the fritz. No engine temp gauge. I've got aftermarket gauges and have tranny and oil temp sensors.

Was going to move my oil temp for an engine coolant temp til I fix cluster so I can still work the truck.


Where is a good place for my coolant temp sensor and what temps should I be looking at? What temp do I need to shut the truck off?

I picked one up from pure diesel power a few days back. Don't know if they are the cheapest but have good customer service and carry genuine cummins too. Mumau could get you set up as well and good service as well.
