Ford 6.0 Powerstroke / 46" Glacier mods...

Here it goes...

Not a big Ford fan, but i do work on these trucks on occasion...

I live over in Iceland and it's not common to see a heavily modded truck here...

Most trucks around will have the standard... exhaust, intake and a tuner...

I did some work on a 6.0 Powerstroke over a year ago, we installed 190cc injectors, MBRP exhaust, EGR delete, K&N intake and i wrote a custom tune for his SCT tuner.

Recently got contacted by a customer who had heard about the other 6.0 i set up, and this one is looking for some serious power for his 46" Glacier truck.

Currently has a MBRP full exhaust, EGR delete, K&N intake and SCT LiveWire with a Custom tune by Innovative Diesel.

We are looking to install Industrial Injection's 225cc injectors, S300 over S400 and modify the transmission to take the punch, then i will write a few custom tunes to fit his needs...

His requirements are that EGTs stay low, he will need loads of power to turn these massive 46" and trans and axles may NEVER break !

So... my question is, what have you guys been doing to beef up these trannys, what is the weakest point...

and what can i do so that his truck will stop chewing through the front axles...

Thanks in advance you guys, i'm sure i can count on you for some legit answers ;)

Do NOT install II injectors. A buddy of mine has had the valve covers off his 6.0 12 times since installing them 2 years ago. And he has a airdog with a fuel pressure gauge so we know its keeping up, a regulated return fuel system and runs amsoil so its not some other issue, its just junk parts!

I did install II injectors on the previous truck i built without issues, what do you suggest for injectors ?

They will need to be clean / low EGT...

I can't remember what size I had in my 04 but I loved them with out one single issue and I got them used from a buddy. Around 50,000 miles between both trucks

I talked to Eric at innovative diesel when I still had the 5r in my truck and he said he put a suncoast kit in his triple turbo 6.0 6 or so years ago and hasn't had a problem. With that being said tuning will make or break you when it comes to the 5r in a heartbeat

I want to build the transmission myself.. any suggestion on 5r parts...

And how does a S400 71mm under the stock turbo sound?

Elite diesel can set you up with a sweet kit but suncoast would be fine too. I second the Warren diesel injectors. Full force diesel or MPD build good ones too. As far as the turbo that sounds like a lot of work and stuff to go wrong on a glacier truck. I would install a modded stock turbo such as a Elite Diesel stage 3 or something down those lines so you still have quick spool to turn those massive tires from a stop. Then if you want more power twin something like a S475 with that turbo.

Warren diesel injectors

I don't think it would be a good idea to ship injectors that haven't been flow tested to another country. Warren does some decent injectors from what I understand and is good about handling any issues that may arise with them, but I don't think someone in another country will want to chance having to deal with that.

I use Full Force myself. They are all flow tested. Innovative, Maryland Performance Diesel, River City Diesel, and I believe Elite all flow test theirs as well.

This is what we want our glacier trucks to look like..

We need to be able to air out really good, so if possible 15" rims are what we prefer...

These would be the conditions we see:

What kind of axles?
How come you need so much power?

If I were to build something like that for constant offroad use, it would be with some of those military rockwell axles like these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Ton-Military-Rockwell-Drive-and-Steer-Axles-Top-Mount-F240-Diff-W-6-44-Ratio-/310823680089?pt=Other_Vehicle_Parts&hash=item485e88f859&vxp=mtr

6.44 ratio would we awesome, although I don't know what your currently using.

I would keep power adders to a minimum to keep maximum reliability, but thats me.
