G360 shifter slips between shift forks

I Have G360 shifter slips between shift forks because when i go into L-1 it will slip between the shift forks also to get it out of 1 i have to pull to the right then up then let it got to center and put it in 2nd i pulled the shifter and looked at the metal where the forks put it into gear i have call a few shops and the have told me i either need to find a new transmission or the top of the tranny i was wondering if i pulled the could i have the edges that are worn weld back up so it did not slip.
