Here is a pic of where the head is cracked as it joins the manifold. Will it be all right how it is? -or what should I do?

with a factory manifold on a 12v, about once a year or so, you want to back off on the bolts and then retorque them to take the stress off of the ears on the head.

you're WAY past that at this point!

in the past, I've taken a MIG welder, cranked up the head, and just blasted the cracks on the head. Got the truck down the road for a good bit longer.

You're looking at a new head when it comes off

Thanks I think Ill weld it. What are the advantages to a aftermarket exhaust manifold?

They won't shrink and crack the head like what happened to you. They do have a tendency to crack themselves at the collector though

Yeah I did the same thing to a head. Broke all six of the ears off.

tig weld it with high nickle rod. good to go. best to get a new head and manifold if possible.

Thanks guys, I think I'll take it to the local engine machine shop as my welding on somthing like this would be bad.
