Jared Jones came to the Indianapolis Diesel Shootout hoping to lower his current national ET record and reclaim the MPH speed record from Marty Thacker in his Scheid Diesel Sponsored Top Diesel Dragster.

By the time the racing was over Jones and the rest of the team had made a "clean sweep" - they qualified number one, ran both the quickest and fastest passes in NHRDA history, set new ET and MPH records in the category, and won the Top Diesel Trophy in the final round at the Indiana Diesel Shootout.

To set a new NHRDA national record you must run within one percent of the qualifying mark as a backup to the record run. So for Jared who had run 6.37 on a single in the right hand lane earlier in the day to qualify number one, he needed a 6.43 or quicker to back up the 6.37 run for the record. His first attempt at a backup was a 6.46, just a tick too slow for record purposes for the 6.37, but the 6.37 did serve to back up the 6.46 as a record under the one percent or less rule. The 6.46 was also well under the old record of 6.64 that Jared had set at the Word Finals in Texas last year. His final opportunity to back up the 6.37 was in the final round against Jeff Dean, but it was not to be, however the MPH on the run of 225.30 set the MPH record for the weekend, the fastest pass in NHRDA history.

With 3 events remaining in the 2014 schedule look for Jared to lower the record again, and move the NHRDA Top Diesel National Record into the 6.30 second zone.

Jared and the rest of the Scheid Diesel team are scheduled to be at the Carolina Diesel Nationals in Rockingham NC July 26th, 2014.
