My '08 f350 24v swap.

What if you mount a tone ring to the front harmonic balance like the 12 valve conversion. Then tie the Cam + Circuit to the Crank - circuit together. The Cam - to the Crank + circuit. Feed these input from an aftermarket mount balancer through the factory ECM?

i am running a 60-2 tone wheel w/the destroked box, and all is wired in as per their instructions(they don't have a 5.4L instruction)

I never used any destroked stuff but with the diesel conversion specialist they worked when hooked up as told.

ya, i got basically the same answer from AW when i asked them about tach kits.

anywho, my laptop won't connect with my pcs, still have to get the p/s lines fab'd and get the tach to work.

this truck has been giving me huge loads of grief when things aren't going right.

Sounds like you are having issues. If your laptop is not connecting sounds like you lost data connection to the OBD. I know with our Ford I could still hook to PCM and pull active and logged codes as well as read parameters. This was on a 2004. I was thinking of looking for a blown 5.4 Ford and doing something similar. I'm curious on your findings.

i'm not tryin to hook to the pcm, i'm trying to connect to my PCS(trans controller)

fro mthe emails i received from autoworld, what i have ot do is pull the destroked box and hook the ckp directly to the pcm, and tap into the wires so the pcs sees a tach signal.

Easiest way to figure out your PCS connection problem is with a remote desktop session- if you can't get anyone else to help let us know and me or someone else on the forum can probably help.

Too bad you're having trouble with the tach. I'm expecting that what AW told you won't work for you either because the 5.4 trucks need a different signal. That is what the destroked box may have been meant for- to adjust the signal, but I am not an expert on their stuff. All I know is the 60-2 ring only works for 6.0 and 6.4 trucks, unless the signal is modified.

Could be a problem with the controller or the comm cable then. Have you sent it off to get tested already then? I could try sometime late tomorrow afternoon or Monday if you want and still have it. It's really common to have driver issues with either PCS's new USB comm cable, or even with the older usb to serial port adapters- especially with Windows 8. If they checked the drivers out then chances are good it's another problem. Unplugging everything connected to the controller except power and ground can help isolate strange issues- and unplugging the comm cable and plugging back in to other ports and then the original port on your laptop helps sometimes. There have been a few guys connect 12 volts to the red/white wire and burn the box up.

i'm gettin power to the box, good ground, and brand new serial-usb cable w/driver. I am running it on a windows 7 machine. I'll see what i can do tomorrow(truck is outside, its cold)

i'll pull the box and see if the magic smoke has left it.

Is it the PCS usb to serial? If so, you need the driver on their website- the driver on the disc doesn't work for Windows 7. I've had issues with other brands of adapters- especially radio shack.

It's probably a driver issue then. What brand is it? The company that makes it may have a different driver or could help you get that one working if they have tech support.

If you use your computer for a lot of different USB devices the port number setting may be higher than 15 and that will cause a problem. Port 3 or 4 works the best it seems.

If that isn't the problem and the driver for the adapter you have is correct and working you may be better off getting the USB to Serial adapter from PCS- Part Number: WRE-2200.

Did you get your tach figured out?
