Hello all.

I'm a recent move resident of SW Virginia. I'm intending to begin the restoration of a 48 Ford F-5 sometime next year and need advice regarding the engine and drivetrain for it.

Hope everyone has a good thanksgiving.

Thanks. It is a long term project. We just moved to the area. i'm nearly done building my shop and hope to get the truck towed here next summer to begin work. I expect it to take some time as nearly everything is going to be custom due to age and my goals of adding a diesel.

Mostly a show daily driver. We used to farm and I have several international engines laying around that I'd like to use. They aren't practical just more of cool factor.

I've got a DT414, D436, and a DT466. None are running and all would require work to get running but I'm OK with that. I'd like to get close to 500 HP out of it and keep it streetable, if that's too much I'm fine with less as again this is mostly just a fun driver truck.

I will keep it manual and the truck had an aftermarket 4x4 package done for it so I'm intending to keep it 4x4 as well.

Welcome aboard from a native to SW Va haha. CompD is a good resource for mechanical diesel information and there's still a lot of good people that come through here

Thanks. Trying to figure out the difference between a dt414, d436, and DT466. I know the internals are different but I'm curious if the blocks are different. I found an adapter bellhousing to put a manual trans behind it and I can easily get the 4x4 going from there as well.
