A guy at work has a 01 f250, went out to start it last night to warm it up and came back in. When we went to leave the truck had died. When he got in the truck the thing smelled like burning electrical. Started the truck back up and it is not charging now. I found that the wire going from the intake heat to the relay had melted the coating right off the wire. Unhooked the wire from the relay and the truck is still not charging. Anyone have a wiring schematic or any idea what could be the issue here?

thanks

Sounds like the heater shorted out and maybe fried the the alt. Check your fuses first. If you need another heater let me know I might have an extra one.

Fords will not run the alt when the AIH or the GP are running due to the excessive current draw. It is common not to see charging for up to 2 min of idle time or during cold temps when the AIH is running
