I installed the NP271 transfer case in my 96. I have the linkage adjusted to shift properly, but the shift pattern is like the 98 and newer trucks. How hard is it to install the shifter to the body of the truck instead of the tranny mounted shifter that I have? I could install the shifter knob off of a newer truck for now, so I can make sure I get in the proper range. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
