Is the Nv4500 trans cooled? like external or internal cooler? when i got my 12v it had the auto cooler on it... pretty rusted and beat up, so do i keep it or is there some other cooling source for the nv4500?

no cooling source needed for the nv4500

optional finned pto covers are available, but i deem them not needed unless you towing a whole lot

You would be surprised how hot they get just driving empty. Ask Cumminsfever on here aka george the monkey he ran a temp gauge in one for awhile and I'm thinking he said they get upwards of 270* real quick.

Cruising temps on empty truck were 215 - 220 @ 70mph.
Synthetic oil, 373 gears.
My solution for towing is a pump, filter, and a cooler.

Why specifically do the NV4500's get so toasty? The iron case? Does the gears messing cause that much heat build-up?

Anyone have temps for the NV5600? Just curious.

Now im wonder what temps say a 18 speed RoadRanger seeing towing 80K.
