parking brake freezing

Now that the weather has gotten a bit chilly my parking brake on my '02 is acting up. When I go to back out of my driveway it seems like the brake is still on but, when I pull forward it seems to roll normally. The brakes need to be adjusted a bit, could that be causing this to happen or is it the cold weather.

it probably is hanging up if i remember right they seem to catch better in reverse than in forward gears. the easyest fix for this is during the winter dont set the E brake go with park or first gear
